Take care of your oral health

We look after many things in our life to ensure they keep working without issues; we get our hair cut, go to the gym, and have our cars serviced, but it’s easy to take the health of our teeth and gums for granted. The pain, stress and inconvenience of a toothache could all be avoided by having your teeth checked regularly, so any problems that are quietly brewing can be dealt with before they get worse. We believe in prevention and early intervention, so treatments are as minimally invasive as possible.

Having your teeth checked on a regular basis means that many patients need to have less treatment over time, and when you see one of our dentists, they aren’t only checking your teeth; they’re looking for signs of wear and tear, acid erosion, defective restoration, and mouth cancer.

Your dental check-up at Dental Smiles London includes:

The cost of general dentistry

We want as many people as possible to access the dental care they need, so we’ve made our dental check-ups at an affordable price of £45 for our patients. If you need further treatments, we offer a range of private payment options, including 0% interest free plans.

  • Existing patient check-up £45
  • New patient consultation (including small X-rays and treatment plan) £55
  • New patient emergency appointment (including small X-rays and treatment plan) £85
  • X-rays from £10
  • White cosmetic fillings from £180

Treatment time and frequency

A dental check-up usually takes around 30 minutes to 1 hour. We recommend having a dental check-up every six months if you’re able to, but it’s up to you how often you have a check-up – your dentist can make a recommendation based on your dental health.

Screening for mouth cancer

It sounds scary, but it’s important that we perform oral cancer screening at your dental check-ups, because early detection of any cancer is vital. We do this by checking your mouth for anything that looks unusual or abnormal, such as swelling, patches of irritation, and lumps and bumps that shouldn’t be in the areas of soft tissue in your mouth. Your dentist might also need to gently feel your face, mouth, and neck for anything that feels unusual, but your dentist will make sure you’re comfortable and aware of what’s happening before they check anything.

Dental hygiene

Having regular dental check-ups is important, and so is having your teeth cleaned by a professional dental hygienist. Despite our best efforts, cleaning those hard to reach places, like below the gum line, can be really difficult. This can cause a build-up of plaque, which can lead to bad breath, poor oral health, and other more serious problems in the future. A dental hygienist can help to combat these problems with a thorough deep clean of your teeth and gums, stain removal, polishing, and oral hygiene and dietary advice to keep your teeth healthy for life.

A dental hygiene treatment can help to address:

  • Heavy staining on your teeth
  • A buildup of plaque or food
  • Sensitive teeth and gums
  • A history of poor oral hygiene
  • Bad breath caused by plaque

Teeth whitening

Most of us would like our teeth to be whiter. Even with the greatest care, our teeth will start to naturally discolour as we age, due to the foods and drinks we consume, and lifestyle factors like smoking. Teeth Whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dental treatments in the UK because it can transform your smile and restore the whiteness of your teeth; boosting your confidence and giving you a fresh new look in a short amount of time and without any major cosmetic work.

I have to say, Dr. Jack Johnson is easily the best dentist I've had. Calm, considerate, attentive and puts you at ease, even when nervous of with a history of difficult experiences at dentists. He also explains things very clearly and is understanding about any questions you may have. The nurse, Alex, was also brilliant, as were all the reception staff. It makes such a difference and I'm grateful to all at Dental Smiles London Chalton Street - thank you.
