A toothache can have a big impact on your life, but our experienced endodontists in Kings Cross, Euston, and Gray’s Inn will get to the root of the problem and have you pain free in no time.
Root canal treatment can seem like a scary procedure, but there’s actually nothing to be afraid of. When a tooth becomes damaged or decays, the bacteria can lead to an infection. If left unattended, the infection can lead to an abscess and swelling of the face, which can be a painful experience. To stop it getting to an advanced stage we use a root canal procedure, which is performed by a highly skilled and qualified endodontist using state-of-the-art equipment.
A root canal can help to address:
We know that a toothache can come out of the blue, and needing a root canal treatment isn’t something you’d usually plan for! As well as offering NHS paid or subsidised root canal treatments, we offer a range of payment instalment options for private treatment, including 0% interest free plans.
You may not know this, but each of our teeth are hollow and filled with soft tissues. The nerves and blood vessels that connect our teeth to our body are connected to these chambers of soft tissue through canals, and these tissue chambers and canals are susceptible to infection when our teeth become broken or decayed. Some teeth injuries can also cause damage to the nerve endings, resulting in pain and inflammation.
A root canal treatment involves an endodontist removing the damaged or dead nerves or tissues in order to relieve pain and repair the tooth, and hopefully save the tooth from needing to be extracted. If we aren’t able to save the infected tooth, there are a few options we can help you with, including a denture or dental implant.

I switched to this dentist a few months ago and have been really impressed with them. Caleb is kind, calm and methodical and great at explaining what's happening. I'm really pleased with the treatment I've had, and I feel like I'm in safe hands. Hygienist appointment with Aisling was also excellent and made an amazing difference to the staining on my teeth. Fay on reception is also super friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!
You’ll be treated by a fully qualified endodontist who only deals with issues requiring a root canal, and is able to deliver the right level of pain relief to ensure you don’t experience any discomfort. The process may take more than one visit depending on each individual case, but your endodontist will make sure you know exactly what to expect.
Your consultation is where we’ll identify the cause of the pain or infection, and decide whether or not a root canal is the right course of treatment. We’ll discuss your options with you and take any x-rays if needed, and book in your root canal procedure.
This is where your endodontist will remove the infected pulp and thoroughly clean the inside of the tooth to remove all bacteria, all under a microscope. Once the pulp has been removed, the tooth is filled with a safe, inert dental gum, shaped, and sealed.
After your tooth has healed and been reviewed by your endodontist, we often recommend fitting a cap or crown to fit over the tooth which will not only improve its appearance, but also provide a strong seal that will protect the tooth from further damage.
Whilst a root canal helps to clear the infection and restore the tooth, you still need to look after your teeth with daily brushing and flossing, regular dental hygienist visits, and being careful when eating certain foods that could damage the restored tooth.
Our root canal treatment starts at £650. As well as offering NHS paid or subsidised root canal treatments, we offer a range of payment instalment options for private treatment, including 0% interest free plans. See our pricing page for more information.
Endodontics is a specialist form of dentistry that specifically looks at treating issues associated with the inside of the tooth, and an endodontist is a dental specialist who has completed an additional three years of endodontic training on top of their general dental education. Endodontists specialise in identifying and treating oral pain and most commonly perform a root canal treatment, including surgery if needed.
In most cases, no! Usually when we perform a root canal, the nerve has already died, which means the pain receptors won’t be firing in that tooth. However, we’ll still give you a numbing injection/local anaesthesia to be safe.
Depending on your individual case, we will often recommend a crown be fitted after a root canal to improve its appearance and provide a strong seal that will protect the tooth from further damage. Your dentist will discuss all your options with you though.
Usually we’re able to save the tooth if we catch the infection early enough. However, if the infection has progressed to an advanced stage and we aren’t able to save the infected tooth, there are a few options we can help you with, including a denture or dental implant.
